Meet Dr. Juanita Chapman: At the Heart of Heal Your Spirit Yoga

One of the main reasons I became a therapist was it provided me the freedom to talk openly about emotions and other things, such as trauma, which were taboo subjects in my family. In my years of practice, I have discovered that this lack of emotional validation and the inability to find lasting ways to resolve trauma resonates with a huge portion of my clients.


When I began practicing yoga, I stumbled onto the added benefit of the practice of releasing emotions and allowing people to begin to feel connected with their bodies. I wondered if there might be some way to bring yoga and those who might not normally practice yoga, along with those who regularly practice but struggle with not feeling safe in their bodies, grief trauma, and other difficult emotions, together.


Thus, I became a yoga teacher and created Heal Your Spirit Yoga. I offer Grief Yoga©, Let Your Yoga Dance©, Yoga Nidra, Vibroacoustic therapy, and coming soon Kundalini Rebirthing to help alleviate these concerns. All bodies are welcome! I am a registered yoga teacher with over 500 hours of training (RYT 500).


In my practice, I draw upon a rich blend of therapeutic modalities to offer a comprehensive approach to healing and well-being. I am deeply invested in modalities like Yoga Nidra, Let Your Yoga Dance©, and Grief Yoga©, and am on the cusp of completing my certification in Kundalini Rebirthing— This array of certifications enhances my ability to tailor wellness practices to the unique needs of my clients.


Additionally, I hold certifications as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Certified Grief Informed Professional, which complement my extensive academic qualifications. These include a PsyD in Psychology, along with licenses in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counseling. Each of these disciplines informs my integrated approach to therapy and yoga, aiming to foster profound emotional healing.


This holistic blend of scientific knowledge and therapeutic yoga creates a nurturing environment where individuals can explore personal growth and recovery in a supportive and understanding setting.
